Although this story plays on people's heart strings, it's origin is murky at best and although it was quoted in Chicken Soup for the Soul it probably originated in a 1925 movie starring Mary Pickford in which her character offers to give her blood even though she thinks the procedure will kill her. In CSFTS it is entitled courage, not love.

Be that as it may, there is a darker interpretation to this story, wherein one must wonder what made the little boy think that his parents loved his sister so much more than they loved him that they would sacrifice his life for hers?
I wonder if Abraham has anything to say about this Urban Legend.
