most people (without an eating illness, just vain) who were born a size 8 always say they need to lose more. yet is this just a ploy so we automatically say "but you dont need to", well if anyone else says that to me im gonna say "yeah your thighs do look a bit flabby" and wait for there reaction.

Because they're stupid.
You should answer them by saying...
"Well, to be honest, the size of your belly is the least of your worries. If I was you, I'd be more worried about improving my ugly scrawny face"

I was a size 5 and still thought I was fat. I looked into the mirror and was always disgusted with what I saw, now that I am a size 10, I only wish for those days back and realize, nope I wasn't fat at all. See what happens is we see something different when we look in the mirror, then what people looking at us see. I never saw the slender beautiful girl everyone was telling me I was. I didn't say I want to loose more, just to get compliments or reactions, it was truly the way I was feeling at the time. I know now, I have a eating disorder, some people have eating disorders and have no clue they are suffering from one.

Have a great day! : )

There are a few reasons for it, mainly psychological. First, they may actually see themselves as fat, rather than as they really are. Also, they may have a psychological need to get attention, which is also why some people act like hypochondriacs. It is actually a rather large and convoluted problem without a clear easy answer, like why there are so many broken homes. In short, it is as likely that it is a sign they need help of some kind as it is a conscious ploy for attention. Also, some of you should be ashamed of your answers because they are petty and spiteful.

Sometimes people have been programmed by family or friends to see themselves as fat when they really aren't. My parents started telling me I was fat, and putting me on diets, when I was about 8 yrs old. All my life I have struggled to meet their standards. And yet when my mother died I was given photos of myself as a child, and while tall and big for my age, I was *not* fat. I think my mother just thought I was growing too fast, and this led her to tell me I was "fat". By the time I was in college this programming was ticking over nicely and I really did gain weight. I just got tired of fighting a losing battle. Now I *do* have a weight problem, while not extreme, but it's such a depressing struggle.

Its for attention SOMETIMES....othertimes if they have worked hard to get there they sometimes forget how nice they look. I know that sounds stupid but I have lost 85 lbs in a year and i still dont see the "skinny" Tammie I still sometimes see "fat" Tammie....but I am getting better at it....and my friends will say....Mirror check time, and it reminds me that I should be proud of where I am.
But for the naturally skinny that say it.....lets put them all in a room with a HUGE brownie that blocks the exits and they have to eat their way OUT of it....that might work on the too skinny problem!

Me too LOL or 'your hips look enormous in those pants' or 'OMG you have SUCH a massive butt for a small person!!! (I'm happy to be a uk 12 = Us 10 myself!) It's some kind of smug bitchiness on their part to make all of us NORMAL women think 'Well if she's far what am I a whale or something?????' Also what is the deal with them showing off the crack of their butts or their tummies? One, even if you are thin put it away girls (don't dress like that for work!!!!) and two, if you REALLY think you are sooooo fat what are you doing flashing the bits that my only my hubby sees (in a dimly lit bedroom with his glasses off for that matter!!!!)

Some people genuinely feel and see themselves as fat or obese especially if they have eating disorders

It's definitely for the attention. They love it when someone reassures them that they look good. They know when they are saying they are fat that they really are not. They just want their egos boosted. Then their heads get even bigger and they look even more like lollipops!

because they're self-conscious. i'm always either a 6 or an 8 and i just feel fat especially when there are so many stick thin girls around here, but i don't complain about how fat i am to others.

Thin people always look thinner to fat people. Maybe they really do need to drop a few pounds.

I have the skinniest friend in the world and she always says she is dieting because she's a cow. So I said, well than I can only imagine what you think of me.

I told her I am afraid if she takes one more step, I am afraid she will burn 1 more calorie and cease to exist.

Makes me sick. She is 5'8" and approx. 119lbs
