There is a really strange bird in my garden and i dont know what it is but it looks quite rare, If i shot it would it be best to take it to the RSPB or the Natural history museum, so they could tell me what it is/was?

In this section, it is obviously a bird of paradise.

Hope you mean shoot it with a camera!
You'd be surprised that you could Google a description and maybe find a photo of a similar bird... I've done that successfully 3 outta 3 times! For example... I saw a large woodpecker so I googled "Large woodpecker of North America" It took me like 5 minutes to find the exact bird.
Good Luck!

i really hope you mean shot as in take a photo and not the other meaning,
you should take or e-mail the photo to the RSPB, they would be able to help you better,
also if you could put it on the Internet, i am a birdwatcher myself, so i am interested to see the bird

I'm sure that, if you shot it and took it to the RSPB, they'd tell you what sort of bird it was, and much more too!

You have given no description and no thats not a good idea to shoot a bird, just take a photo simple as that.

yeah. let's kill the poor defenseless RARE animal so you can satisfy your curiousity!

A better alternative is for you to get Sibley's book on birds from your local library and identify it yourself or invite over a bird watcher (call your local bird watching club) and they will be able to help identify it and they will be thrilled if it is indeed a rare bird.

Don't shoot it. It'd be easier to take a picture of it, silly. You're just trying to get a rise out of bird lovers, right? If you are serious, ask again and describe it.

On second thoughts, shoot it and take it to the RSPB - and see what happens to you!!!!

Shoot it and dont take it down to the museum or whatever. Stuff it and keep it on the mantlepiece.

As long as you only shoot it with a camera.
