That's up to you. Are you able to handle two large breed dogs at the same time? That means your yard has to be large enough, you have to have the patience to train two of them at the same time, clean up after them, the cost of food for the two. There are lots of things to have to consider before making any decisions.
But if you decide you want one, I have a litter of 11 that are 4 weeks old right now. =)

You're male boxer should be neutered which will help cut the aggression. Depending on how old the puppy is he also should be neutered (if it's an adoption dog). If not - most older dogs are tolerant of younger pups. There are several warning signs to look out for: growling, raising the lip, side long glances, stare downs, ears back, raised hackles, stiff body etc. As soon as you see these signs you need to step in and distract him away from the puppy. Reward relaxed behavior. Consistently doing this will teach him that the puppy isn't a threat and should be welcomed into the family. Always discipline regardless of age and keep up with training. Exercise A LOT. A tired dog is a good dog! Good Luck

Training is a long process. Boxers are high energy dogs. If you have the time to train too very young puppies at the same time go for it but I would think real hard about an impulse purchase of this sort. I'd wait until you first dog is 6 months before I'd consider getting another or you;'ll have two dogs messing in the house to say nothing of eating the furniture, shoes, stealing food from the table...

Unless you are very experienced, training more than one dog at a time is very difficult.
It'd probably be better to wait until the one you have is trained and has had time to develop a strong bond with you.
As for the dog not coping with the addition of another dog if you wait, that's just not true. If you socialise your puppy now (puppy classes are a good idea if you're not doing them already) then you shouldn't have any problems.

I was told to wait for at least a year, because #1 so the first one is trained and your not running after 2 dogs and the most important reason is because the dog you have now needs to Learn to bond with you, if you get another dog right now the one you have may bond with the other dog and lear away from you. this will cause Major problems because if the older is paying more attention to the younger one ,you will never get him to listen to you and same with the younger dog, the younger dog may get confused because the older dog isn't listening so why should she...... train the first one then get another, this will also set a good example for the younger one and the older one can give guidance to the younger one !
Good luck!
and remember 'Good things come to people who wait.'

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/0U29A
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

You just posted about trouble training your puppy. I think that is the answer to your question. If you get another pup now, you will have double trouble. I know many folks get 2 pups. I feel it is best to bond and train one puppy first. With 2 to keep each other company, you are rather the odd man out.

I would go ahead and get another one. That way they would grow up together and develop a buddy system now. Although when you have two dogs, one will always be the alpha dog. But if you start with two puppies, they'll not be much of a difference, if one at all.

hi, i have a 6 year old very handsome boy boxer, i would absolutely love another one, the problem is him accepting another dog at this age, he grew up with a mongrel we already had and adored him, he was devastated when the other dog died.
but he is now top dog! so i would get another one now before there is a leader of the pack, twice the fun and twice the loving.i couldnt have any other type of dog now but boxer, they are a fantastic breed, lucky you!

I would get one now. I waited to get another puppy, but my first dog got all jealous and we had all sorts of issues.
I think it is easier to have them at the same age so they can be trained together at the same time.
Can I recommend this dog training manual. It is excellent and has helped me no end with my dogs.
