Yes, your friend sure has got problems. Suggest you go with her to the doctor and tell the doctor exactly what is going on and take it from there.

being claustrophic is very hard to deal with, i have claustrophobia, and there is nothing wrong with being obsessed with keeping your budget on track(to a point), but if you obsess about anything too much it is not healthy, no matter what. she is most likely just a perfectionist, and that is a personality thing, she has to want to not be a perfectionist or reduce this feeling. be there for her and dont judge her, she seems like she just wants everything to be organized and that is a good goal. be a friend. some people just are loners and dont like big crowds.

Sounds like an anxiety disorder, or depression. I took paxil or xanex for this. I got so bad I wouldn't leave the house or keep up with my friends. I was scared, lonely and depressed. Once I got the meds from my Dr. I was ok. Now I have friends again and a job. So get her to see her Dr.

She sounds like she is afraid of so many things. For one, tell her to stop watching the news. People are so freaked by the economy, some take it a bit to far - like your friend - and she could be suffering from some form of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

Your friend needs to go to a Dr. It sounds to me like she has an anxiety problem and yes it can be helped. It's gotten worse as she's gotten older because it's not been taken care of or treated.

Get her tested for Autistic Spectrum "Disorders"...
I hesitate to use the term "disorder"... but thats what most neurotypicals call it... And naturally, being Aspergian myself, I tend to think of my "condition" as being superior to those who don't have it.
But thats besides the point. It sounds like she could possibly be on the spectrum in some form, or at least demonstrate subsidiary conditions often found in autistic individuals..... (though most likely not the full blown deal) ....
It is however worth mentioning that autistic spectrum conditions are far more common in males than females.... Not to say they don't occur in both.... but it is rather rarer for women to exhibit them (or at least demonstrate such).... possibly due to the greater emotional connectedness of the female gender in counterpoint to the emotional distancing demonstrated in.... well.... our sort.
If its NOT an autistic spectrum disorder...... I'm not sure what to suggest... besides perhaps exposing her to her fears until she gets over them...
If it turns out she IS lucky enough to be on the spectrum... then I'd put all thoughts of a cure out of your mind and just deal with it.... put aside any notions of it being "worse" and try to identify her particular strengths, respecting her for that.
^_^
I could be entirely barking up the wrong tree here though.

it sounds like OCD ( obsessive compulsive disorder) or GAD (general anxiety disorder) to me I have a friend that has been diagnosed with both. A doctor can better tell you and they also can give. meds that will help. My friend also has to see a counselor like one a month or every six weeks. It has really helped her though
You can look up both GAD and OCD on here

She seems to be a little obsessive compulsive. Have her go and see a mental health professional, they can help her to live a normal life. There are many treatments available to her. I don't think their is a cure for it, but they can treat it.Good Luck to you and your friend.
