Romans - also know as the Romans Road

First Step - Roman 3:23 - for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God

Second Step - Roman 6:23 - for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

Third Step - Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this while we were still sinners. Christ died for us

Fourth Step - Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

God Bless

HOLY CRAP! There are a LOT of long winded people that wrote back to this question! Man, seriously? Let your friend discover the bible themself. If you're a Christian then you just keep living your faith and let your friend see Christ through you. If not, They can read the gospels; Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. John 3:16 is the most quotable but seeing the change in another human being can be easier to relate to right off the bat.

God gave us a conscience (knowledge of his law), the knowledge of truth. God's law is the 10 commandments. If you look at them, you will see that you (all of us) are lawbreakers. We have offended God by defying his law. We know that we defied it even if nobody told us, because our conscience tells us that it is wrong to lie, commit murder and adultry (keeping in mind that Jesus taught that if you are angry at your fellow man, you've committed murder in your heart, if you look at a woman to lust after her, you've committed adultry at the heart level. These examples show the high standards of God.) If you go through all of them, your conscience automatically tells you that these things are wrong without ever having to read them. You also will realize that we've all broken most, if not all, of them. You've offended God. The bible says that you would be guilty. A guilty verdict requires a punishment. The bible says that the punishment is Hell. Romans 2:12-16 confirms all this.
Once a person realizes that they've offended God and deserve to go to Hell. Only, then can their broken heart realize the need of a savior. God doesn't want us to go to Hell, so he offered his son to take our punishment.
The power of condemnation is the Law. The power of eternal salvation is the Gospel. Slay them with the law so they can turn to the cross, ask for forgiveness (repent), and then they are better able to put their trust in Jesus.

I know you probably already know all this, but I am also aware of peoples fears of giving the gospel in this presentation. I didn't like it, as a christian, when I first heard it. But the truth knocked me down to where I needed to be (where I thought I had already been), and it is a very powerful strategy. It is what Jesus did. It is what Paul did. It is what Peter did. And so on.

Thank you for being faithful and sharing the word.

Just about everyone knows that Jesus dies on the cross.. There is a great verse in the Old Testament That was a prophesy of the event... Here let me show it to you it isn't that long...

Psalms 22:12-18
Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

This was written by David the King some 900 years before Christ. The Roman torture of crucifixion hadn't even been invented at this time..... Jim

Luke 23:37-43 They said" If you are King of the Jews, save yourself." At the top of the cross these words were written: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. One of the criminals on a cross began to shout insults at Jesus "Aren't you the Christ? Then save yourself and us." But the other criminal stopped him and said "You should fear God! You are getting the same punishment he is. We are punished justly, getting what we deserve for what we did. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus said to him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. God did not send his son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through him.

John 3:16 shows Gods love for us.. He died for us. I'd also look at other things such as the life Jesus lived. Show the miracles. There are many places where Jesus healed people. Also show his ultimate authority... He rose from the dead! As curiosity becomes satisfied, then you can make the offer of salvation. You probably don't want to start off "preaching" at first.

I personally like the opening chapter of the Gospel According to John. I think they describe the reasons for Christ's visit to earth quite eloquently and beautifully.

Romans 1:20-21: "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened."

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Romans 11:36: "For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen."

Invite her/him to church and allow God to show her/him through the words HE would have her/him hear at this time..we always seem to forget it is God who brings people to him, we are just vessels, and we do not have to prove God or Jesus to anyone. If you insist on having a scripture though I would show O.T Isaiah 53 the entire chapter, because it is a prophesy of the "suffering servant". Remember to keep praying for your friend
