Everyone has the right to be accepted and respected for who and what they are if changing religion is the only way that your friend thinks he can achieve this then he should convert, everyone has a right to be happy.

This is a seriously horrible situation to be in. However I dont think there is any situation that cannot be remedied.

Now the fact that Christianity accepts gay behaviour is a farce. Gay behaviour breaks down the societys main base and that is a family of male and female spouses. Any God sent religion will not show toleration to gay behaviour.

Christians themselves may show tolerance tho, and it is true that most christians show tolerance to gay behaviour more than most muslims do. Because to us muslims, tolerating gay behaviour is equal to supporting it and we do not support something that would compromise the basis of a good family made up of male and female parents.

Now coming to your friends situation, if he truly cares about what God thinks, he should do what we muslims call ISTIHKARA and that is praying about a decision and then asking God to show the best decision in his dream at night.

Ask him to do istikhaara for many days until God helps him out.

The way I see it, hes gonna have a lot of trouble both ways.

Good luck

It's not easy turning one's back on something that their life has a foundation in, especially when it's a belief system and way of life, I had a Sikh friend who came in one day with his head-covering removed, his head shaved to the hilt and his facial hair gone. He'd told me that he left his family, his religion, everything, it's hard but when it comes down to it one must go where one can be accepted as a human being and not as a heathen to a deity.

Praying to God for guidance could help.
Praying to God for forgiveness for disobeying him could help too. We weren't made homosexual, we were made hetrosexual- but God is gracious and can transform lives. If this guys a Christian he'll believe it and break off the homosexual loving!
But I really hope and pray that they can get sorted out.
