It looks as if following your team in whatever sport is more important that following God. I'm not particularly religious, but that's just what i've noticed.

Unfortunately, Sports is a new religion.

People worship the sports idols more than they think of the Almighty Lord!
Am religious, But i don't know all the verses in the bible, but i can tell you all the best players in the world, all the great teams and poor teams in the world, thousand and thousands of footballers' names, what Michael Schu eats for lunch, etc......
Am not proud of it though. Its a shame.

Whatever you put first in your life is your God, your religion and your place of worship.

Many people make religion their God and then build a place of worship as part of their worship of the religion they have set up as God. This they are pleased to call faith pleasing to God.

The above situation, we are told, must be kept separate from law, education and government where worship is confined to self; although worship from constituents, admirers, lobbyists and students is widely accepted.

You are absolutely right. The situation in the Western world makes worshiping sports teams seem almost normal; however sick it may be.

No. It's been like that a while.
These guys knows the birthdays, gossip, game stats and records on all these ball players, and talk about nothing else during break.

Yet, know nothing about Bible characters.
And know a lot less about Jesus than they realize.

People need something to believe in: they need continuity in their lives, they need something to be passionate about.. If it's not going to be God then it's going to be Sport... or Celebrity.
