example from a folder call "my photos" in "e" drive: -

e:
cd/
cd "my photos"
dir *.* /b/a-d > 1.doc

then, type "start 1.doc" without the double quotes.

note: the above is for listing in non-detailed format but listing only the filenames and not the sub-directories.

if you open up the command prompt,

START BUTTON, RUN.. type cmd

browse to the folder that you want to record the files/folders in it.

type the following information

dir > file.txt

it will send the directory command and output it to a file called file.txt in your present working directory.

Then take the txt file and just copy and paste it into word.
