We are just back from a few days away in our caravan and an essential for us at this time of year is our little electric blow heater, we do have gas heating but why waste gas when you have already paid for your lecy. A quick burst of this heats the whole caravan in 10 mins, great for those chilly evenings/mornings, Another essential for us is our pillows dont forget washing up liquid and dish clothes/towels
cards pens/pencils /paper dvds toilet roll toothpaste/toothbrushes

Make a checklist. Don't bother too much with bed sheets - take sleeping bags they are much easier.
Go into each room of the house listing things you think u need. Then b4 collecting them all together re-check to make sure you REALLY need them. The load the caravan. Its better to concentrate more on the kids things as if the adults forget something you can usually make do.
We used to travel with local Showmen on the Fair during the kids holidays from school. Luckily we were always near enough to home if we had forgotten anything, but that checklist really helped.
DO NOT FORGET THE CAN OPENER THOU - its the 1 item most people forget to pack.

Don't forget your salt and pepper either - and some matches - an umberella and waterproof clothing. Perhaps some books to read or music to listen to if the weather is bad - pens, paper, something to amuse the kids with? Travel blanket, spare oil. Map. Sat nav? Mobile phone charger. Batteries for the torch. CDs, tapes, ipod, ipod converter? Camera, video? Biscuits, snacks, Flask for hot water and last but most important - Johnson's baby wipes - great for all sorts of things!

Take lots of cash so you can book yourself into a hotel when you realise that caravaning (especially in October/November) is cold and wet and boring.
If ou do stick at it take LOTS of towels and matches and spare clothes. You WILL need them. I went caravaning in France in the summer and I forgot to take books. I almost died. TAKE A BOOK. Take 2 or 3. Also take LOTS of booze. No caravaning trip is complete without getting squiffy every evening.

You or another in your party will forget something, don't worry about it, just deal with it as it happens. Have a good relaxing time.
