I have always been told that you were not supposed to be do this. I am in the USAF and we play retreat every day. I know if you are outside you are supposed to salute and if you are in a vehicle you are supposed to stop but does anyone have in writing some where that if the music has already started it is considered disrespectful to walk outside in the middle of retreat.

Yeah I had heard it was disrespectful. Me asking has nothing to do with any being in trouble. I have a troop that asked about it and I cant find anything offical on it.

It is considered a sign of disrespect to the flag and country. Possibly it is one of those customs that over the years becomes observed as a law. If you really must know, contact your JAG office. You didn't sign the Article 15 papers without legal representation, did you? Former USAF, 493 TFS, 1966-1969. Mascot, of course. Woof! Go 93rd!

You may come outside but you are supposed to stop, put your hat on and salute. Most people are lazy and just stay in side. I don't know the USAF reg but its in the Army its covered by: Army Regulation 600-25.
