The main building at the Taj Mahal complex is a tomb built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan for his beloved wife Mumtaz (Arjuman Banu Begum) when she died. It is a beautiful marble structure covered with inlaid jewels and precious stones in typical Mughal motifs and verses from the Quran all round the doorways and at other decorative points.

The Taj complex also features expansive gardens and fountains as well as a mosque and residency for when the Emperor visited the tomb with his retinue. The design, including the gardens and fountains is based on descriptions of heaven that are found in the Quran and Hadith, such as the fountains reflecting the verses which talk of four rivers or fountains flowing through heaven.

The first time I went to see the Taj Mahal I was totally awestruck, there is no photograph that I have ever seen which truly does it justice, it is one of the most beautiful man-made sights I have ever encountered. Shah Jehan loved his wife dearly and is also buried in the Taj.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

I study the tale notwithstanding it is in simple terms too early to bounce into end. there are a number of questions which could be replied to examine that it quite is a Tomb. Love tale of Shajahan and Mumtaj seems hatched up by the historians. all your questions raised right here have been circulating around for quite a while yet Historians and Archaeology dept. of India are preserving mum with reference to the project.
