WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPENING HERE? WHY DOES IT NEED TO SAY THAT?
(Most other things I either 'Allow' or 'Deny' - but 'acting as server' - sounds quite important!

It's only due toYahoo Messenger which needs to act ike a server inorder for it to run.
If it happens without you manually starting Yahoo Messenger, then it's because you have yahoo messenger in your startup programs.
Go to Start Run & type msconfig press enter & under the start up tab disable ymsgs by unticking it ..press apply ..reboot & when you have rebooted put a tick in the box when you see a small
window (saying you have changed your startup configuration), inorder not to see this small window again...this will stop messenger starting up every time you start your computer & stop zone alarm giving you that message.
You will still be able to start yahoo messenger manually by clicking on the shortcut to it or going to your program menu in Start->programs.

PS..if you don't want to do this, & the alert is not annoying you, there is no problem. The zonealarm popup saying the message you describe is not serious. It is perfectly normal to see it. Nothing harmful is going on & there is nothing to worry about :-)
By the way the same answer would apply regarding MSN Messenger (& you can also disable this by msconfig if you want)

Hello gardengirlkate ;) ...oh, ok then, etaklrignedrag...

Usually when your browser is trying to "act like a server" it means your computer is trying to run a media stream. Zone Alarm will detect this if you are trying to watch film media on the internet.

I am not sure about Messenger. Have you got a webcam by any chance? It could be the video feed from that which is triggering Zone Alarm, or it could be what the first guy said.

Either way, I would think that Messenger is safe to use but always be wary - Zone Alarm detects these things for a reason.

Always remember: If you get this message after you have agreed to a download or opened a media stream/new program then it is safe to use. If you get this message and don't know why then decline the action.
