That is not true. It could be twins even if non of your families had twins before.
How exciting!! Good luck! :)

Not necessarily. Twins can occur two ways: You produce two eggs at the same time, and both are fertilized, or if one embryo, while multiplying, also splits. The first is called fraternal twins, and the other, obviously, is identical twins. And you'd be surprised at how many people have twins that it doesn't run in their families. And twins REALLY runs in my family, and I have two children, not twins, so you never know. It's luck of the draw for the most part.

If twins are on your husband's side unfortunately that has no effect on you. They have to be on the mother's side and they usually skip a generation. For instance my mother is a fraternal twin and neither her or her sister had twins so I might, or my sister, or cousin. And only the fraternal gene carries on. Identical twins do not run in families. Good luck.

Twins can crop up anytime although they can run in families but it is a fallacy that they skip a generation. Twins run in my family and the latest two skipped 4 generations.

Fraternal twins run on the mothers side. Identical twins do not run in families. I have twins and no one else in my family has ever had them. you have 1 in 80 chance of having twins.

no. If it run in your family or his one, you've more chance to conceive twins (Non-identical), but it is not sure.
on my side or on the one of my husband, there is no story of twins, but now I'm a mother of twins boys.
In a very serious book, it was written that families who've got story of twins are more likely to have twins (non identical), but identical twins doesn't run in families, they even say that "it is a mistake of nature". But what a good mistake!!!
In any way, you'll know when you'll have your scan. I hope you get what you want : twins or no twins. good luck.

Im currently 8 weeks pregnant, i started to have morning sickness at 3 weeks. I have been told this is a good sign that im expecting twins. Its due to the HCG levels.
Im a twin and so is my father, and we have twins on my mums side, my husband has just told me there are twins on his side to. So yes there is a chance you could well be having twins.
My husband, bless him is currently tormenting me with the idea that im having quads. so im lookinf forward to being told that im only having twins. But good luck to you and look after yourself :oD

it depends. Identical twins are NOT hereditary. it is a pure fluke. Non-identical twins only run on the mothers side so you are right.
