Is it true that hospitals hold a copy of your birth certificate that has the names of banks printed on back?

Nope, not true in the US anyway. Office of Vital Statistics holds them. (Military hospitals keep a copy though)

I don't think hospitals hold the documents.
They usually go to the capital of the state and are held in the vital statistics office.
