I want to know whether the Tahsildar functions as the ASST RETURNING OFFICER or ZONAL OFFICER?

Election Commission of India & State Election Commissions function independently. They are autonomous bodies. As such people are deputed for the electoin duty only at the time of Elections. the salary of the tahsildar would have been nearly 45000 permonth including all allowances at the time of joining.

Tha pay scale for an Tahsildar is 10000/- net + underground earnings (not accounted). The tahsildar is the Revenue divisional Officer and special judicial magistrate ie 2nd class chief judicial magistrate (1st class chief judicial magistrate is Collector of the District). In regard to the elections, he is the returning officer of the taluk and deputy returning office of the district not asst. returning officer as you mentioned. He is incharge of conduting polls for Legislature ( assembly segments within his jurisdiction)as well as District panchayat unions.

dont tell about the thasildar salary its very less. becuase of the undertable money. capacity of the election duty?? its simple, he must support the ruling party enough. FIRST INDIAN CORRUPTED GOVT SERVANT IS CALLED tahsildar.
