my best advice for you is that you should wear what you are happy wearing,go into shops and have a look at whats out. At the mo i would say a scarf is "in" but go with what works best for you. Personally i look for someone who dresses a wee bit different form everyone else, works for me.
can i ask what do you wear at the moment in terms of style?

If you are, as I suspect, in the U.K., whatever you wear will be smarter and in better taste than what can be seen here in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.
In short, there IS no fashion trend for young men; it's been the same since dirt was new.
The Ideal Man here wears baggy trousers the same color as mud scooped out of an abandoned tire (tyre!). This is topped off with an ancient T shirt (no logos), stretched over a belly that proudly proclaims years of glutting on barbecue pork sandwiches. In chilly weather, a threadbare flannel shirt comes out of hiding to ride up on ridges of back fat.
The coiffure is either shaggy and ear-length, or shaved three weeks ago. The backwards baseball cap is still big. There is no jewelry, and often not even a wristwatch.
Shoes are tricky to discern, being usually covered with red Georgia clay. They could be anything.
Personal grooming is optional; the ideal is to have hands and nails that appear to be more familiar with disassembling an engine than holding a pen.
In defense of Georgians: They are pleasant people, who are always ready to help out, and they are fine country cooks. The are generally keen to see justice done, and I'm proud to call many of them my friends and neighbors.
But.
I wish they'd use GQ for something besides a coaster for their canned beers.

As you sound like the kind of guy who can't think for himself and has to follow the herd, I'd recommend a pink ballet tutu. All the 21 year old blokes who want to be 'in' are wearing them.

Go for military coat, dark brown, double button officers jacket or single breasted suit cut. Steer clear of rips, steer clear of bootcut and go for plain, slightly darker tapered jeans. Shoes, a nice pair of Quick Typhoons, brown, look great, and for a tee, I still like the Boss Orange faded print ones, but that's a personal thing...

Well basically as a fashion expert myself i can tell you this answer easily. First of all get some smart jeans with rips in them but not big jus small ones. Then get yourself a nice cardigan mens to suit your jeans a pair of brown addidas trainers with gum soles that are new out and a t shirt to go under your cardigan with the colour contrasting with your cardigan so it doesnt look out of place.Go to various shops such as river island which is good prices for excellent clothing. don't go emo though if you wanna get the girls. Also i reccomend buying the GQ magazine now and that will give you some great ideas for being the perfect man for the ladies. Fashion starts wiht how you look after yourself then you wiolll evolve into who you are by what you wear. But either go on GQ website or buy the magaize. I reccomend buying the magazine very strongly.

You mean like brands? I suppose it depends on your style. If you like urban, then it would be Rocawear, Sean John, Baby Phat etc. Other brands I like are Abercrombie and Fitch, Lyle and Scott, True Religion and Diesel. I also like hats on guys, like flat caps.
