yes after operations when a stupid nurse did not read the doctors orders right and did not give me the pain meds i was suppose to get .
as far as you go so what you cried although a sore toe is not much you should also consider the other things in your life at that time that might have been causing stress combined with a stubbed toe perhaps most would cry .

I have almost cried from physical pain, my eyes became damp. Over a period of 10 years of not draining my bladder completely, (due to an enlarged prostate) it apparently built up a lot of junk in it. I lost bladder control. A catheter was inserted and a bag placed on my leg so the bladder would drain. For the first several days when all the fluid would drain out, the raw bladder walls would touch each other. I could not sit down, I would stand up and almost scratch the paint off the walls. This happenend many times a day and night for two or three days until the healing process began to put skin back on the bladder walls. I have had a lot of severe pain in my life including shingles, which are pretty bad, but shingles were a walk in the park compared to that. Over a couple of weeks, the catheter was removed., and I returned to normal. I do not know why I wasn't prescribed pain medication. I guess the doctor never experienced it, and so had no idea of the amount of pain was in the healing process. Well, I got through it. Now I make sure I drain my bladder completely. I have had no more problems.

As an adult have you ever cried because of physical pain?
I had never cried because of physical pain and I thought I would have never till sometime ago (at 38) after stubbing my toes against a hidden stone: the pain was sudden, unexpected and excruciating! I hate to show my weakness in front of...

Anyone who tells you they've never cried over physical pain as an adult is either a liar, or lives in a bubble. We've all done it. Its nothing to be ashamed of.. About a year ago I was getting HORRIBLE leg cramps every single night, my entire right leg would cramp up and fall asleep and it seemed to last forever. I couldnt sleep at all and after about the fifth night of this happening, I was sleep deprived and angry and broke down in tears, because it hurt so bad. (my mother had to comfort me, now theres embarrassing) Granted it has to be really severe before I'll cry about it (and it sounds like what you did was major pain, i hate stubbing toes!!!!!!), its perfectly normal

Your feelings of shame to cry when physically injured do not indicate a weakness on your part. I am a nurse and I have adults who are so afraid of a needle that they cry loudly at a shot or a blood draw. Pain, in whatever form it manifests itself is very real to that person. By the way, the toes are very vascular and FULL of nerves it hurts badly just to stump then. The kind of trauma your foot took was beyond a "stump" the other thing about broken toes is that the usual method of repair is to tape them together until they heal so you still have broken toes moving around when you walk on them. You are not a bay because you cried.

It is written in your DNA to burst into tears when you are in pain. However, crying is different. Tears can come out of your eyes and this shows that you are biologically normal. On the other hand if you cried like a baby with all the screaming and yelling than this is another issue of course...

There's nothing wrong with that, it is a good, and appropriate reaction.
But I know what you mean, I had a similar thing with a foot injury (a large rock dropping on it)- I've had a few pretty bad injuries but breaking foot bones are the most exquisitely painful; I didn't cry, for social reasons as you mentioned, but I think I should have. On that evening I tried to cry by myself, but couldn't.
I think you should be proud that you cried when it was the time to cry.

Had a staph infection on my elbow last year. The Doc opened it..took out as much as He could, but left it open to go back in 2 days later (so I have an open wound on my elbow). Therapists came in to clean out the wound (Open, raw, down to the bone), And they used a water-pik! I didn't just cry - I screamed, kicked and threatened the medical team with death! If it hurts..it hurts and don't let no one call You a "Baby" because of it. If they do - tell em You'll kick they're *** when You get off the table.

Yes. When my wisdom tooth was removed last year the anesthesia didn't work for some reason and when the tooth was removed it hurt so much that I shed a few tears.
I don't think you should be ashamed for crying because of the pain. There's nothing wrong with crying, there's usually a good reason for it.
