I love my job and respect my boss alot. It came as a shock to me when he asked me to go on a trip with him and that we would be sharing the same suite. I am so disappointed. Help.

If you love your job and your boss is a respectable person, you should be able to explain your position to him. Let him know that while you appreciate the obvious risk he has taken to articulate his feelings, you do not feel interested in getting involved-- as one professional to another, he should know that that is his queue to back off. Now how to avoid the feelings of awkwardness is another matter. Sometimes you have feelings like this for a reason.

He has put you in an uncomfortable situation, not to mention creating a difficult working environment. If this does not work, your backup plan if this is a medium sized company or larger would be to go to Human Resources and report the issue.

However first I think it is most often best to try to deal with people you respect directly.

Good luck!

Say that you don't think it's appropriate to be sharing a suite with anyone from work, male or female. You need you space and you don't feel comfortable with it.

Say that you're keen to go on the trip as a business opportunity only.

If things get awkward, he might be trying to abuse his position as a boss. Human resources may be able to help discretely, but maybe you should think about getting a different job if this doesn't work out the way it should - he's hardly good boss material, it seems.

Try humour first, that's always a good way to spare their ego a bashing. Making it crystal clear that you think they are joking about the shared suite will allow them a graceful exit from the situation. If that isn't suitable write a polite email (of which you should keep a copy in case of litigation later) saying that you are flattered by the approach but value them as a colleague and would rather maintain a completely professional relationship for the benefit of your career (and theirs)

Agree to go with him on the trip if he needs you to accompany him in a professional capacity.Make it absolutely clear that there will be no 'shared suite', a hotel room of your own will be required, not adjoining either, and you will expect to be paid extra for any work you do. Keep it professional and he will get the message.

Explain your feelings to him and say that you are not interested and you would prefer to have a working relationship rather than a personal one.
being nice can easily be taken for interest so be nice but don't give to many sexual vibes cause you do say you like him and even being a bit flirtatious can cause a problem.

Tell him you read in a career advice book that office flings that don't work out, involves one, or both leaving the company. You expected professionalism along with job satisfaction.

Invent a boyfriend if he wont take no for an answer, get a pal to pose as the boyfriend and make sure the boss man sees you.

Have a quite word if possible so as not to publicly embarrass either of you and explain that although you are flattered you are not interested in that sort of relationship with him, it is better to deal with it sooner rather then later.

So i take it your not intreseted in him then. LOL. You just have to say NO! and continue with your job as you would everyday. He should understand that not all feelings are mutual. And besides, he's a manager! Eughhhh....The DARK SIDE!!!

Are you a child of God? just go on your knees in prayer. Also try diplomacy, talk to him, tell him the consequences and how uncomfortable it makes you.
