Sometimes talking to a stranger about something which is hard for you to say to a friend of yours could be very relieving. It is like a free" psychotherapy "!A stranger doesn't know you at all,so there is no taboo stopping you from expressing yourself freely. You have no fear of letting a friend down by something you said or did.It just doesn't matter with a stranger:no strings attached there.

Yes, it is possbile. I'm messenging someone i've never even met and we're talking as if we're old friends. Just don't get too comfortable and make the other person feel as if you're becoming clingy. Let them know enough to give you advice and help you in tough situations.

if it's a stranger and I know I'll never see them again, then I do sometimes tell them stuff most people in my life don't know about me. This way if they judge me, I could care less since they don't know me. But the people in my life may think less of me if they knew some things. I obviously wouldn't want that.

Sure, sometimes its much easier telling someone who knows nothing about you whatsoever about your secrets, because later both of you part ways and you'll never see each other again. That's probably a reason why those helplines are so useful.
