(b) Photosynthesis


Cellular respiration is:

C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy released (2830 kJ/mol)

(in other words, it's sugar + oxygen --> CO2 + water + energy)


Photosynthesis is:

6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light --> C6H12O6 + 6 O2

(in other words, it's CO2 + water + energy --> sugar + oxygen)


As you can see, one is the reverse of the other.

b) Photosynthesis
Respiration requires oxygen and releases CO2 while photosynthesis requires CO2 and releases oxygen gas.
