CD is Compact Disc. In olden days people used 360 KB 5 and a quarter inch floppy disc then they started using 1.44 MB 3 & a 1/2 Inch Floppy Disc. then as the requirement for more external storage came, then they started using Compact Disc which stores 700 MB of data.

only disadvantage with CD is that u cannot use it like a floppy. i..e. simply u cannot copy/delete files. u have to have a special software like nero to write/erase contents of CD.

in CD there are 2 types CD-R and CD-R/W. with CD-R Only u can write only once. u can't reuse. where as CD-R/W u can write once, use it then again erase , rewrite something else and reuse. but only disadvantage is that u need special software like nero to write contents to CD.

now a days we are getting pen drive which can be simply attached to a serial port and it can be used like a floppy. it can store upto 1000 MB. now a days u are getting even more capacity. u can use it like a floppy. copy/delete files. u dont need any specail software to write the contents. u can just copy or delete files as u would do on a floppy. just plug and play. but pen drive is supported only win 98 upwards.
