Apply an ice cube wrapped in a soft rag to the area to completely harden the wax. Then remove the rag and place fake fur on a hard surface and scrap wax off with a butter knife.

If any residue remains try a clean rag over the area and place a warm iron on top for a few seconds. Be careful as your fake fur may be flammable.

The best thing to do, is to scrape away as much as you can with a knife, then put some brown paper on the wax. Run a warm iron over it, do this as many times as is needed to remove as much of the wax as possible which should now have transferred to the brown paper. Then the napkin will have to be washed in the normal way.

Place brown paper over the wax and then iron. Make sure the iron is not too hot or you will melt the fur! The brown paper will absorb the wax. You might need to place some brown paper under the item too.

My instincts say put it in hot water and the wax should melt and float up. Or is there something about putting it in the freezer and it will just break off?

Freeze the wax (if item will fit in the freezer do that, if not put a pile of ice on it). It will come off very easily.
