Why are people afraid to admit how they really feel, even to themselves? What is it that causes us as humans to deny the love and affection that is so obvious and longed-for?

Some people do not know how to deal with or accept their true feelings. Others were just raised to suppress them when they do not know how or what to do about them. What causes it are the walls we put up to keep people at a safe distance, usually out of fear. Fear of rejection, or fear of being hurt, and sometimes fear of the unknown.

Fear is the tool that Satan uses to prevent you from seeing the truth and becoming all that you are suppose to be. Fear can make you feel as if you are less than what you. Let me tell you or if it is for another person that you are writing about, see yourself as God sees you. You are a more than just a label. You are a prince or princess because your Father is King. When you start to see how important you are to God, then you will see how important you are to the people in your life. You will be able to love unconditionally and will be able to move on if someone does not understand that love.

People are afraid of being hurt. They are afraid of admiting feelings to themselves because they may not know where to go from there. They may also be afraid of what this will mean/ how it will change their life.

First of all not everyone is like this. Often people know exactly how they feel, they just don't want anyone else to know or don't know how to express their emotions.

Expression is something that doesn't come nature to some people and they must learn. Surpressing feelings only leads to horrible mental problems.

Well I am at Salford University, and before I got here I made a pledge to myself not to ask any girls out in Uni because I am shy. It's most probably because of rejection, because when a girl usually tells you that she does'nt like you she does it in a cruel way like "Your too shy".Which is pretty much dismmissing my personality as a whole!

Because despite the fact that we all want it. We never feel as though other people want it from us. However confident we act we all have our insecurities and doubts. We dont want to commit ourselves before we know how the other one feels.
It takes a lot of courage to tell someone who you dont think loves you that you love them. And people just dont want to take the risk. BUT people do. You can see it everywhere, I guess peopel just need to take 'a leap of faith'.

Because a lot of us are born people-pleasers and thus, we fear rejection in more ways than one.
