Friendship has to be necessarily two sided. Whereas love may be or may not be. You can love your enemies too. You can love music , love animals, love infants. You are not in friendship with them. Both require concern and care from you. But in love, concern from the other end is not a must. In a narrower sense these days, love also means lust, sensual pleasure which is absent in friendship. But love has got a much broader meaning. God loves you, but he is in friendship with you. In True Love there are no expecations. In friendship you expect your friend to reciprocate your feelings, be loyal the relationship. If not the relationship breaks.

Romantic love is different from friendship in the sense that love involves passion and desire to fulfill that passion. Both needs commitment, dedication and closeness but only romantic love has sexual passion.

i believe you can love a friend and i believe you can have friendly love. love is the strongest and most wonderful thing on this earth. it has many faces and many facets. the more one loves the more one has to give to love, you never run out of it. i love love, but remember not to get romantic love and sexual expression of it confused with the mateship one can have through a deep and meaningful PLATONIC type of friendship, i did this once and had sex with my best friend, it ruined EVERYTHING!!!!
