It is exactly THIS sort of stupidity that fuels racial tension. the politically correct call it "positive discrimination", people living in the real world simply call it discrimination.
Having said that, I also do not consider a small cross in the same way an all-enveloping veil. A small cross is a fairly discreet item, wheras a "hoodie" is something which many people find intimidating, whether worn by a young male, a bank robber or a Muslim woman.

You will be in the sad minority. The majority of people that book on any airline is because of price or convenience. While it may be a personal issue to you, others don't see as such. Would you stop eating mutton because of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals...they have been trying to cause trouble for McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken for years. Did it influence McDonalds...NO! You may be devout but most people really won't care. Would you feel better with the employees being Atheists or Agnostics? Companies have to reflect concern for the image that they project to the consumers and there are limits to public relations, earrings for men, body piercings for women. You may find this discriminatory but the directors are responsible to the share-holders, so any thing an employee does while on duty reflects on the company. My nephew's son had a tattoo and got a job at Disney World, and after probation, he was told to get rid of the tattoo or find a new job. Don't take these things personally You either fit in or be replaced. In your example, the school authorities are concerned about a law suit for illegal discharge but likely the teacher will be terminated at the end of the contract. You have to understand the world animosity that prevails also, and how could a large corporation require one religion to do something without the application of the rules to all the others?

If company rules state that chain jewelry should be worn under the uniform, then where's the problem? I suspect there was more to this story than reported in the media. I wear a 'Sword of Ali' on a chain round my neck. If I'm wearing a high neck top it probably won't be seen, but I don't consciously hide it or display it.

I don't think many will boycott BA because of this debacle but it's quite ridiculous. It should be all or nothing. It's double standards and favouring one religion's sanctity over another. Neither the cross or the veil are requirements of their respective religions and so should be treated the same.
BA are overreacting by trying to prevent a situation that is unlikely to occur- I doubt non-christians care or would be offended byy a Christian wearing a cross.

Talk about double standards, I have never flown with BA but to tell you the truth I'm not going to refuse a cheap flight off them because of religion.

Uhhhh... Jock Chick, Britain hasn't been catholic since Henry VIII was on the throne, they're anglican.
On topic: I would boycott British Airways, but I never actually fly anywere so they wouldn't notice.
I think it's just another symptom of our times. We bend over backwards to avoid offending the terrorists, yet refuse people to show their faith when they're on our side.
The 'war' against 'terror' isn't fought on the battlefield, it's fought in public perception. Actions like this push us further toward defeat.

that is sickening. Britain is legally and officially a catholic country. I personally don't follow any religion but certainly am not insulted by someone wearing a cross. She should sue the idiots. I never fly with them anyway.
