I wear a shirt every day and wash them after each time- however the cuffs on both cufflink and button sleeves have become worn and fraid at the very end of the shirt where it meets the hand.

I presume this is normal and not me washing/ maintaining them badly! Does anyone have any suggestions how i can look after my shirts better and/ or stop this from happening?

Just seems to be normal wear and tear. I wear a suit jacket on top of my shirts and that helps reduce the wearing to the cuffs.

Try rolling the shirt sleeves back away from your cuff whilst seated at work. Alternatively wear cuff links which allow the cuff free movement - which will then not chafe and wear the material down

Stop living in the past - How long did you expect 2 shirts bought in 1982 to last? Tight **** - get your wallet out. They only cost about £6 from 'George'(ASDA).

Roll them up a bit when your working on the computer, otherwise you'll have to wear short sleved shirts!

Clothes age. Use clothing softener. In the meantime, get a new shirt.
