I am Indian with a good deal of English teaching experience and a Batchelors Degree

I live in a rural, sparsely populated area of Texas. My husband teaches in a district whose ESL teacher is from India. She speaks with a slight accent, but her English is good. All they really care about when it comes to hiring is "are you certified?"

Race should have nothing to do with it. It is illegal to discriminate on grounds of race in England and the US.

If you are a good teacher with a sound CV/resume (and a green card, of course), you stand as good a chance of getting a job as anyone else.

I think one of their requirements is that English should be your mother tongue and not your second language.

I don't think it makes any difference as long as you can do the job!
