1000 rifles to 50 knives isn't much of a fight. Bringing disease over and wiping out tribes with chicken pox was real manly. killing off the food and clothing source so children starved and froze to death that was good too.
One thing has nothing to do with the other though. Yes the frontier men and women did a lot for this country. They had a rough life. They had to work the ground and make their own clothes cook on a wood stove. hunt for food. had very little medical supplies. fight off the cold. bring law and order to the country. Those are things that truly showed their courage.
