I have an 250 crossflow carburettor model engine that i have recently put into my XF ford falcon?

It seems to run preety good when it is hot.. when cold it is hard to get running good and runs like a hairy dog espeacially when i put it into gear it wants to stall. can anyone help me please.. if you are a mechanic it would be good to get some advice of you. email me at [e-mail] if your a mechanic and can help me ..

Sounds like the auto choke isn't working properly. Generally when these engines get worn they "over-choke" so what we used to do to fix then was to drill a hole in the choke butterfly to allow a little more air to pass thru into the engine. Failing that get rid of it and buy a Holden
