Some people choose to volunteer bcoz it is in thier nature to gain satisfaction.
Some do it so that they can get some benefit out of it.
Some do it becoz thier religion or faith has made it neccessary to help others.
Some like to do it to get political benefit.
Some do it becoz they are asked to do it.
Some do it to get psychological advantege.
Some do it for name and fame.

The feeing of being a volunteer in an old job I had worked for me in that after awhile of having that attitude in the work I found the duties were way more enjoyable and I started feeling way happy with my experinces I was having there.

It is the alturistic motive, the need to help others and by doing so to feel gratification and reward for the act. It is deep seated in the phsychic make up of most people and is part of the tribal instincnt of survival as opposed to the Survival of the fittest. I t can be found in many primate and large mammal groups xx I hope I have redeemed myself x

People choose to volunteer because it is a win-win situation. You help someone else out, and you feel better about yourself for doing it.

Sometimes when we think that we don't have much to be thankful for, helping the less fortunate makes us realize what we do have.
I think volunteering in general helps a person to feel they have a purpose.

Most people enjoy contributing to the welfare and enjoyment of others. It can give you a sense of being useful, needed and appreciated, of being important and having a place and purpose in the world, and of doing something good that receives positive feedback.

some people feel the need to help others because they can't help them self.
so it makes them feel good about helping when they can't find an answer to their own problems.
