Is capital punishment an answer for those who murder in cold blood? Would there be any reason for keeping them alive...???

College Town Serial Killer Executed in Florida
By RON WORD, AP

STARKE, Fla. (Oct. 26) - Danny Harold Rolling, Florida's most notorious serial killer since Ted Bundy, was executed by injection Wednesday for butchering five college students in a ghastly string of slayings that terrorized Gainesville in 1990.

Rolling, 52, was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. EDT, more than 16 years after his killing rampage at the start of the University of Florida's fall semester.

The bodies of his victims were found over three days in late August, just as the University of Florida's fall semester was beginning. All had been killed with a hunting knife. Some had been mutilated, sexually assaulted and put in shocking poses. One girl's severed head had been placed on a shelf, her body posed as if seated.

Was justice served or society's need for revenge, or both/neither?

No sympathy at all. The only thing that upsets me is that their death was not as horrific as the death they decided to impose on their innocent victims.

It drives me crazy when I hear someone talk about how inhumane capital punishment is. If I remember correctly, they usually just give the person two different shots and then they basically just go to sleep.

What about the victims that the criminal killed? I'm sure that torture is involved alot of the time and their victims die in far more painful, scary ways.

I wish more liberals would take that into consideration. I'll bet they would if one of the victims was someone they really knew and loved.

And to think our tax dollars go to support these animals for years before they are taken out.

Once a murderer is executed they will NEVER escape and NEVER harm anyone else.

It grates on the hearts and minds of the families of the victim that their loved one will never get another holiday, another birthday or even just one more day, with their murderer still alive. It brings a measure of relief to families. There is just something inherently fair about executing a murderer.

Why would I feel sympathy for someone who obviously didn't care about anyone but his own twisted desires?

16 year wait is far to long for the families to wait for justice,If with the help of DNA he was proved to be the killer then his punishment should have been swift for all concerned.
The pain this gutter snipe has caused has a ripple effect .
I hope he died in fear, as he certainly did not die in pain like his victims

None whatsoever! This individual got exactly what he deserved, the only problem was that the citizens of Florida had to pay for his room and board for 16 years while he appealed.

Justice was served. Societies need for vengeance would have entailed torture and mutilation of him while still alive till death so he could realize the hell he put his victims through.

He should be executed. Nothing less. Scum like that doesn't deserve to live.

Lethal injections is for wussies. He should be shot or beheaded, hanged or electrocuted without anesthesia.
