Pokemon Emerald was my second time around for the Hoenn Elite Four and this was my team (all of whom were between levels 55-60):
1. Gyarados--Water/Flying type
Earthquake, Flamethrower, Surf, Dragon Dance
2. Electrode--Electric type
Thunderbolt, Light Screen, Swift, Rollout
3. Magcargo--Fire/Rock type
Flamethrower, Body Slam, Rock Slide, Yawn
4. Glalie--Ice type
Ice Beam, Crunch, Protect, Headbutt
5. Heracross--Bug/Fighting type
Mega Horn, Endure, Brick Break, Dig
6. Crobat--Flying/Poison type
Sludge Bomb, Confuse Ray, Wing Attack, Shadow Ball

Crobat and Gyarados were the two I used primarily because they cover a wide range of types against which they have super-effective moves. Both are speedy, too, which made OHKOs when playing types that much easier. Gyarados loved picking on Metagross (Earthquake) and anyone silly enough to be weak against Water-type moves. Crobat pummeled Ghost-type (with Shadow Ball) and the rare Grass-type.
Heracross was there for the rare Normal-type and for any Dark-type Pokemon except for Houndoom, which Gyarados was quite happy to eat for breakfast. Heracross's type makes it double-resistant to Dark-type moves, plus Dark-type Pokemon are weak against both Fighting- and Bug-type moves (Mega Horn, anyone?)
Glalie was almost exclusively for Drake's Dragon-type and the random Ghost-type that Crobat couldn't handle (Crunch).
Magcargo batted clean-up for anyone Glalie couldn't handle (Rock Slide punishes the Flying part of Dragon/Flying types) and for Glacia's two Glalies.
Electrode was a late addition to the team to counter the wide range of Water-types encountered, especially Glacia's Walrein (it had Thick Fat for its Special Ability, which further reduced any Fire-type attack's usefulness).
I'll be the first to admit that my team was a bit on the weak side. I had to use many recovery items between battles to get all the way through but I succeeded on my first attempt. Had everyone been level 60+, it wouldn't have been as tough. My battle style is also pretty straight-forward and I play to types as much as possible for the quick KO.
If you want more information, feel free to email me or visit gamewinners.com or gamefaqs.com (both for tips and hints) or serebii.net (for a really good Pokedex). Good luck!

Crystal is the previous era to Emerald. Fewer pokemon, diverse international... some human beings like the variations to the nextgen (emerald), others do no longer. in my view, i do no longer in basic terms like the nextgen variations. Crystal is my famous, yet i'm downloading a pokemon Yellow rom (i won't be able to discover my quite interest :( ) for nostalgia's sake :P yet Crystal is ultimate, IMO short version: Crystal

make sure you have a good, varied team...

+Blazien
+Fighting type (a must for Sidney!)
+A electric type
+A Psychic
+ A water type (Kroyes good if you caught him)

Anyother types are good for your fifth as long as you don't have them, for me I just restarted my game and my team is:

Sceptile
Lapras
Flareon
Espeon
Mighyena

This team has worked well for me aganist the Elite 4 so far, good luck!
