We did a study once in class and got quite a few interesting answers! I thought I'd ask it on here as well!

On 9/11 I was at work! We have a television there and we tuned in after the first plane had hit the towers, only to see the other one flying in there (I'm in Europe, in a different time zone). I remember locking eyes with my colleague, both of us in shock.
I will NEVER EVER forget, immediately I had this feeling that the world had changed and would never be the same again...

The Pope's death I don't really remember. I'm sure I saw that on the news. It wasn't that sudden, since he was old and frail, so I can't say I was really shocked.

Princess Di: I was working at an airport during that time. I worked in a bookstore with a lot of international papers and I had a morning shift. I saw it on tv before I left for work. At that moment it wasn't sure yet that she had died, but I was completely shocked, could hardly believe it. All day British people came up to me asking if it was true. All of them seemed to be in shock, some of them were crying. All the UK papers sold out in an hour...

Katrina: I knew the hurricane was coming, but when I read the papers and saw the incredible damage that had been done, I could hardly believe it...

Berlin Wall: I was actually in Berlin that very day! I was in secondary school and we were on a schooltrip. It was amazing. The teachers told us to get out of the hotel (even though it was in the middle of the night way beyond our curfew) and experience history! It was the most moving thing I have ever experienced. The people from East Berlin were wandering around like in a daze, many people gave them money, they looked at all the shops and stuff in awe. Everybody was hugging each other and crying.

on 911 I was on the west coast and woke up to the TV and thought they were just giving a potential disaster scenario, it took me some time to realize that this was real. I still have a problem with this to this day.

It was the day after my birthday when the wall came down. It was absolutely amazing to me because I had worked as an MP at Charlie.

When Princess Diana died I felt strange and a little bit perturbed that a chauffeur could mess up like that.

When Katrina did its damage I knew that this should have never happened. The governments both local and state and also the feds should have taken care of this problem many years ago. It is inexcusable.

I was waking up to go to work when 9/11 attacks occurred

I was writing a paper when I read that the pope had passed

I came home from Bumbershoot (music/arts festival in Seattle) and found out that Princess Di had died

Katrina was not a sudden event, so I was following it on the news for a few days before it hit

I was too young to remember what I was doing for the fall of the Berlin Wall, but I remember watching TV footage of crowds celebrating.

Geometry class when the planes hit and Ecology class when the towers fell.
On the internet making plans to go to Oregon when the pope expired.
Putting together a science project. A model engine. When I heard Di was killed.
Watching CNN whispering to myself "I hope the smart people knock the stupid people over the head and take them somewhere safe" when Katrina was brewing.
Around.
