Go to the Symantec website. go to support and choose "home & home office". then choose viruses and spyware, and run the system scan. follow the directions and do the Virus Detection. note that it is recomended to have a high speed line it will make the process faster. depending on the size of ur HDD and how full it is, it might take a few minutes or about an hour, may be more. when it's done it will give u a list of the infected files in your system. norton antivirus wont detect them. and most free spyware removers are exactly what they claim to be removing, specially those being advertised in the pop ups that you might be getting. with caution delete the files that are infected and if u have questions, type the name of the adware virus at the bottom of the page where u launched the scanner. it will give u detailed instructions on how to remove that particular malware. it sounds complicated but it isnt.what you have is a malware installed and needs to be removed from the disk and the registry ONLY EDIT THE REGISTRY IF YOU KONW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. You could totally ruin your computer. by the way, depending on how bad it is, it might block the symantec site, because it knows what you are lookin for :)

Me and a couple other people i know suffered the same problem. the easiest way how to take care of the problem without having to uninstall your current anti-virus, do some long process that will get rid of it through its code, or getting a new anti-virus that you will only use once is to do a system restore to the earliest time before it happened.

some viruses are really tricky and are smarter than the anti virus program. they do things like make numerous copies of them selves all over your computer to make sure they don't get removed. i just had a similar problem i was running kapersky anti virus and if i tried to do a full scan my computer would restart itself. i would suggest saving whatever you want off your comp to disk and reinstalling window. wipes the hard drive so you start fresh.
