It all depends upon the work environment. You have a lot more leeway with a casual environment. If it is more structured and conservative like a bank etc., then make sure you take any changes a little slower. Remember that they hired you with a certain look and style, not that you can't change it...but perhaps do it gradually once you have the lay of the land.
Make sure that you give yourself at least a weekend to experiment with a new hair cut, or radical change in style so that you can play with it and make it yours. The last thing you want to do on the first day of a new job is feel self conscious about your "new" look.
Good luck!

Go to your hair dresser and tell him/her that you want something totally different. If your worried give him/her certain limitations and go from there. That will give you a whole new outlook. My outlook on hair is that it will grow back if you don't like it. Then go to the mall and ask for sales person's advice or maybe they might have a personal stylist.

Good luck!

as a professional stylist, i suggest that you look for a picture in a magazine that shows the style you want to go for and bring tha pic o a salon and they will ake care of you...a rule of thumb in make-up is that if you go for smoky eyes, pair it with light lips and if you go for a neutral eye, go dark red on the lips....clothes depend on your body type but since this is for a job, i suggest wearing tweeds jackets and pinstripe pants with a silk top underneth the jacket...and wear open-toe pumps that are at least 3 inches all...wear a few accessories...a chandelier earring would look really nice....
