The Dodge Aries and Plymouth Reliant sold well when they were in production, but they were getting old and tended to have reliability issues. Both were discontinued in 1989. The Dodge Spirit and Plymouth Acclaim replaced the Aries and Reliant- they were bigger and more modern than the Aries and Reliant, but were discontinued because they were very boring and unexceptional, and didn't sell too well- those two were gone in 1995. The Eagle Premiere/Dodge Monaco twins were discontinued in 1991 or '92- they were very unsuccessful large sedans built to a Renault design.
