I am in favour of getting the religious zealots out of the way. These are the ones who promote the errors of evolution and do not regard the solid scientific basis for creation.
You talk about stem cell research. That is going with somatic (not embryonic) stem cells now and that is making a difference.

I don't actually don't believe in religion myself, that's not to say that I don't believe in god..... As far as religion goes I think that people should stop following like sheep, do some research and form their own personal relationship with their creator! Religion was created by man to control the masses and make a few people rich! I am sure that the creator didn't want for his name to be used for such atrocities and murderous events like the crusades and the war between the Jews and Muslims etc! If anything religion only divides us not unites us! Surly we are all at the stage of history where we can realize that anything created by ourselves has a very good chance of being used for the wrong reasons as well as the right (sometimes). Therefore as much as if science can't make the right decision as to whether or not the advancements are for the best then so is religion to blame for its dramatic and cruel way of eliminating the competition! I think that as people we should stand together and make decisions with the thought that "we created the automic bomb" and how far did that get us in mind! Never mind the fact that religion is one of the biggest excuses for greed in the existence of the human race! I am sure that to the delight of both extreme groups, they will find that they are both apart of the same common gaol and the one fits into the other like missing pieces of a puzzle!

The majority of the Republican Party believes that stem cell research should be privately funded, and not funded with tax dollars. There isn't any legislation banning stem cell research. So if you think it should get going then send your money.

couldn't science in some way be categorized as a religion? And what is stopping other countries from developing the research? nothing, which is why other countries are working on stem cell research. If scientists are passionate about their cause then they will go where they can use their knowledge. why wont the democrats let us drill for oil in ANWAR? conviction. they have their beliefs and republicans have their beliefs, and Jon Kerry has no idea.

religious zealots and control in the same sentence!!!! What year is this? For a minute i thought this was 1985...you know, the year when our 5th grade class put on a CHRISTMAS play. Sadly, the date is 2006 and now my 11 year old step daughter risk expulsion if the term "winter recess" isnt used. Luckily for her, should she become inpregnated by her P.E. teacher or Principal, scientific advancements allow me to know which jerk-off to file a lawsuit against even before the baby is born. how's that for advancement?

I mostly agree with your comments....it's true, the majority of Americans favor stem cell research--->61% according to an ABC poll. Most Republicans actually voted in favor of the bill! But President Bush used his first veto of his presidential career to shut down something the majority of Americans are in favor of. I don't get it. He was elected to represent the people, our collective views, not his own personal morals

do you be attentive to what's humorous - over here in England, we are actually fairly religious in any respect. below one million human beings out of 70 million flow to church. the proportion is even much less in adolescents. faith is dying out over here. meanwhile, the U. S. with a state 'unfastened from faith' has replace into the main bible-bashing u . s . interior the international, unswervingly so regardless of the hypocrisy and ambiguity that a non secular state brings. So fairly, what you had to get removed from in England is what you have replace into in united statesa., and what you needed interior the 1st place is beginning up to happen here.

Firstly, those religious zeaolts gave you the scientific progress you now enjoy.
Secondly, as the dust settles at the end of another 1000 years of bloody human carnage and disaster is it really totally insane to ask questions like 'should we' before we let technology drive our moral judgements?
Thirdly, if 80% of the American public believe in God then you might have to put up with a few of them in government occasionally. You've had a good run, time to let democracy work now, or would you only be governed by people who share your own prejudices? Isn't it a healthy corrective, in view of the last 1000 years to listen carefully to other opinions as well?
