and we fought the war for California every body knows the border dispute was a cop out so Polk could get congress to agree to it

We should just take over Mexico and Canada.
And tell Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to either become a state together or become independent countries.

manifest destiny! it is our god-given right - nay, our duty! - to spread the gospel of free enterprise and tax cuts for the rich and shameless! this can only be accomplished through land-grabbing Eminent Domain surgical strikes and lead-pipe business sensibility. how can the free world attain freedom without conforming to Our Image? let's nick Mexico while the getting's good, and annex those creepy Canucks soonest! why not? they still think the queen is in charge anyway, so they should be used to Rule by Divine Right already. and everyone knows we are God's chosen successors - as long as we protect the Jews from, well...everybody! today, Quebec; tomorrow, the world! (or at least Lazbuddy, Texas...)
ps...heidi? all land belonged to somebody else until new folks muscled in and stole it. that is the history of humanity. unfortunately. of course, the fact that the japanese still hate us despite the fact that they have a country and cultural identity and religious freedom (of a sort) because we chose to interfere and prevent china and the USSR from annihilating them should not be factored into any assessment of our country; no, they don't owe us a thing.

No, because that's not what actually happened.
The small US invasion force was far from completely dominating the country, and wasn't interested in doing that from the outset. The goal was the force Mexico to accede to the more generous border for Texas.

Should have. Congressman Solomon Ortiz (D) TX and Ted Kennedy are holding the door open for the Mexican population, anyhow. If the US controlled that country their population wouldn't be movint north/

No because that was and is their land and even though they come over here, doesnt mean that we ever had rights to take it away. imagine if some other countries ganged up on america and won our land.
