i found bugs in a new pack of hamster food, i took it back and they swapped but they said it was normal to get a few bugs in there. does anyone know if its true? i dnt want my hammys eating bugs or bugs eating my hammys!

The pet shop told you this so that they did not look irresponsible for selling you damaged product. It is a problem that some stores have with bugs. If they were a responsible shop they would get them taken care of. Instead they feed you this story that it is "normal". It is not. I would go to a different store from now on if I were you.

Well I've got a Syrian hamster and a Russian hamster and all the times i have brought hamster food i have found no bugs what so ever! I have heard that hammies can eat bugs but i'm not sure....i know that hamsters love to eat flowers and it's safe! Whenever i'm outside with my hamster i pull a flower head off just for him!!

It won't hurt them. They will eat almost anything (broccoli, Kraft Dinner, yogurt...) Their favourite foods are foods native to their dry habitat, like seeds/cereals (but make sure that it's natural
seeds - no roasting or salt, and that the cereal isn't sugary).
For protein and variety, they will eat some small insects. They like vegetables, but don't feed them too many. You might want to give them a dog bone to chew on - it's healthy for them and is great for their teeth.

if thebugs were alive then no its not ok, hamsters would eat bugs in the wild....but thats in the wild. i work in a petshop and we have never had hamster food come in with bugs in it.put it this way, they wouldnt of swapped the food if they knew it was normal to have bugs in it.and did you have bugs in your new bag?try vitakraft hamster food, its got no bugs and hamsters love it....good luck!
