That's exactly the same situation I'm in right now but even less money. I'd borrow a dollar so that way I can get a gallon of gas to go to and from work. With one dollar I wouldn't sweat it because it's only a dollar and payday is only a week away. I've gotta get by as well

I would give it to them in a heart beat and no I wouldn't ask them to pay it back it's only $5.

Yes I would. When I lend someone money, I don't ask them for it. I let them pay it back when they can and when someone "really" needs it, I give not lend.

Yes I would give it too them. Then I would go ask my mother for some more money. Nope wouldn't ask them to pay me back.

yes, I would, and no, if they needed that bad then what would be the point in asking for it back. Besides, something good will come to those who give to those in need.

Heck you can't even buy a decent cup of coffee for $5 these days.

interesting how everybody seems really big-hearted here. Also, talk is cheap and I would like to see these people put their money where their mouth is when push comes to shove.
I've been in that situation (the complete lack of money) and believe me, if that is all you have (and you do not know when more is coming) you do not give it away.

i'd give them. if they "really" need it. if they knew me, i dont have to ask for them to give me back the money later. they would know.
