Just block them...or you can make it so you are permenatly offline to them by;
- Right click on the Screen Name of the person you dont want on there.
-Scroll down to stealth settings
-Select permenatly offline.
This is probably the best solution, when you log on, this person will see you as offline. Best of luck! :)

You can't, you can only delete the person from your end, and that someone else's messenger remains there permanently, unless he or she chooses to delete you or you ask them to, you'd have to ask them to if you are bold enough, (lol)
There is another way to manage actions and contacts,
!. By blocking the person
2. By choosing show offline, or invisible permanently, that should do it, (that's if you have the newest version)

Delete the contact's name from your list.
Go "Invisible" if you don't want the person to see
you are active on line. You can click
and chat with other contacts.
Your friend will in course of time
delete your name from his list !

Sorry, but you opened up a door that can't be closed now...In other words, NO. It's on their computer, not yours... and on their account, not yours, and until "they" decide to delete you then you remain on their buddy list...
About all you can do is Block that user....
