I am lucky enough to have been able to know both my grandmothers up until the past 2 years, they shared family stories, photos, I even found out that my grandfather worked the famous 101 ranch in Olka. I loved listening to my parents stories about making out to Az. from Ok. and then I decided to get all the stories on tape and start a more extended search through sites and other family members. You'd be surprised what you find out if you'd just take the time to ask, and listen. Most of our older folks love to tell their 'old war stories' but don't think anyone has the time or interest anymore, what a shame to see your history lost with time, what are you going to pass down to your children? If your looking I wish you luck, and hope you start with the best resource you have, your family.

A fair amount, but not to any great detail. I know my ancestors on my Father's side to the mid 18th century. I know my Mother's to the late 19th century.

The only thing I know is that there's 5 generations still alive in my family, My Great Grandmother, My Grandmother, My Mother, Me and My son. Other than that I have no idea but my Great Grandma knows and has it written down before her. I should ask. Thanks :)

Far more than I ever wanted to know.

I can trace back to at least the ninth century on one side for all the good it does me.

Enough to know that, whether you mark our patriarch's beginnings in America in Virginia, Ohio, or Illinois, all of us derive from a pack of bastards, literally.
