When did the issue begin? Try performing a System Restore. This configures your computer to an earlier time so if there was an error in a word file, it will bring it back to before the error occured.
To do this go to: START-All Programs-Accessories-system tools-System Resore. Hit next to restore to an earlier time, then chose a bolded date on the calendar (a date before the issue with word began) and then select Restore. It will take a couple mins and reboot windows and it will say "your system has been successfully restored"
That should fix it! and no, you wont lose any data, and a restore can be undone at any time via the same process.

Do a "clean install", go to "Add and Remove Programs" in the control panel, and remove the Word program, then re-install it. There are some corrupt files in your program. After you remove the Word program, do your scans and then re-install Word. After the re-install, do a "Defrag".
