Hi!

Two questions:
1) When you say a room is ten meters square, does it mean it's 10x10, or 10m^2?
2) What does it mean when you say a room is about 8 meters to a side?

The statement "a room is ten meters square" is ambiguous; I think the usual meaning of that would be that the room is 10x10, but it could also mean 10 square meters; but if someone meant the latter, they should say "square meters" not "meters square". That statement should always be clarified.

A room 8 meters on a side is a square room with each side equal to 8 meters, and a area of 64 square meters. This is not ambiguous.

1 It means its 10 m by 10 m
So its 100m^2

2. I think it means its 8m by 8 m so 64 m^2
