I've had an ectopic pregnancy this year on July. I have one daughter 2 yrs.old. But according to the doctors that checked me and operated me, my left fallopian tube was damage already that was the cause of the ectopic pregnancy. It was hard for me since I was looking forward for another baby. I was two months pregnant when suddenly I started bleeding and massive sharp pain on my left side, I couldn't stand up nor can I sit down or move. I was rushed to the hospital and there they diagnose me with ectopic pregnancy. Scary because anytime the doctors were expecting it to burst and that can threaten my life more. The next day I was put on the operating room and was operated to remove the baby from my left fallopian tube. =(
Anyway, on your part, there can be so many factors for ectopic pregnancy. According to my doctor out of 100% there is a 20% risk for ectopic pregnancy. I've done some researches in the internet about ectopic pregnancy. One cause may be the birth controls---your part you didn't take/use any. Other causes maybe because of bacterias /viruses that we ladies may get from using public toilets.
I've attached two websites that you can read more about ectopic pregnancy and this disease that can cause ectopic pregnancy.
I looking forward to get pregnant by November or December, this year.
Take care, I know how you feel.

After an ectopic (if it was surgically removed) you only have a shot about every other month because only one ovary can get their matured ovum to the uterus.
Do you do any charting to find out when you are ovulating or check your physical body signs for that heightened estrogen? By doing this, you can acheive a better knowledge of you body and be able to more accurately time the perfect day to have sex in order to get that pregnancy.
There is an herb called Agnus Castus which may also help you. You take it every day and it can help to regulate your cycles. I know several woman who have added this to their regular routine and they have achieved pregnancy within a few months (one of them started it last month and is now pregnant!).
I really would suggest you try these 'home remedy' type options before trying to get fertility treatment because it really is possible to get pregnant after an ectopic, as I know some women who have done this as well...it did take longer for some of them, though.
You say it has been a year, though, and really, even for a woman who has both ovaries contributing, the average time it takes to get pregnant is about 10 months and nothing over 18 months is considered abnormal. Try not to pressure yourself...You'll get there!!
Good luck!
ps try the website below for more info on charting

Chances are if you had an ectopic pregnancy, your fallopian tube was either too damaged and had to be removed, so it will probably take you longer to become pregnant. Don't give up or get discouraged, though; I had endometriosis really bad; my tubes were twisted, one overy was almost completely removed, and my Dr. even said I probably will never have any more children. A year later, I had a girl and 2 years after that, had a boy, so there's hope.

I didn't have tubal pregnancy, but I did have a dermoid cyst on one of my ovaries, which had burst and hemorrhaged. They had to remove both the ovary and tube.
My uterus was spongy and twice the size of a normal uterus, the tube and ovary I had left was ridden with pelvic adhesions and cysts. The remaining ovary and tube were also twisted and bound to the back of my uterus, by the the adhesions. My uterus was also tilted. All in all ... anything that can go wrong with a woman's reproductive system ... I had.
I had a daughter at age 17 and married her father at 19 (wanted to be sure this was what I wanted). Anyway, we tried to conceive for 10 years after we married... with no success. The specialists tried everything ... surgery, Clomid ... you name it ...we tried it (aside from IVF). Finally, we had given up. Then guess what happened? Yep ... you got it ... PREGNANT.
I gave birth to a 8lb 5oz baby boy. Wait, that's not all. One month after giving birth ... PREGNANT AGAIN!! I gave birth to another baby boy. When the doctor went to put a clamp on my remaining tube ( lol...played it safe this time) he said everything was in tip-top shape ... no adhesions, no cysts ... uterus not tipped ...NOTHING. I was like ... WTH??!! About two years later, everything was back ... and I had to have a hysterectomy.
So ... what I'm trying to say here is ... don't get frustrated hun ... give it time. When the "big guy" upstairs feels you're ready to be a mommy ... you'll get pregnant. I wish you the best ........
