A common practice in India for thousands of years, it is said that massaging baby's nose on the sides gives it a better shape. Is this even possible? My girl is 9 months old, by the way and has a flat and wide nose unlike any of my family members.

No.

It ranks right up there with wearing a clothespin on your nose when you sleep.

All babies have flat, wide noses, and it lasts for a while into preschool age or even occasionally elementary. It's a natural thing that keeps the baby from suffocating when breastfeeding.

Many countries have differnet customs and odd practices; which, to me are just unfounded, but just ideas that have been handed-down for generations. I never heard of this one with the nose, so I really doubt if there's any credibility to it. My grandmom used to tell me alot of wild tales; one being, don't over-due it 6 weeks after you have a baby because that's when your uterus and everything goes back in place (Oh, brother!). And believe it or not, she really meant it!

No. Your baby will have the nose she is meant to have. Please don't try to alter her appearance, the way her nose looks isn't the way it will look in a year as her face grows and changes.

yes, because I believe baby's bones are still tender and can be easily broken or reshaped. massaging it tenderly can do no harm.

Doubtful but you never know. Why would you want to change her anyhow?
