Edmund Fitzgerald song?

A friend told me that Gordon Lightfoot is a total jerk and he once left the stage because his audience were singing the lyrics to his song. Is there any truth to this?

Well he should be flattered that they know the words, and they paid to see him so he was wrong if he left the stage. Granted they should not sing louder than him

can't say. wasn't at that show but i have seen gordon lightfoot a couple of times and the audience was singing along and he didn't leave the stage
