I'm a community college freshman and have been working hard these past few months yet recently this week ive been in a bit of a slump. Not truly happy to get out of bed in the morning to head to class. When school first began i was attentive yet now I tend to daydream in class.

The thoughts that possibly keep my getting up in the morning is the goal of transferring out of this community college very, very soon.

I feel like i'm digging myself deeper everyday in this slumber slump. I've been getting hardly any sleep since midterms are here.

I want to feel great about going to college and confident about my school work.

C'mon college students or graduates... Your Advice, Please.

You know, alot of people don't go to college, so those of us in college take it for granted, BUT when we're done, we'll be able to get higher paying jobs than them, and in the long run we will be more comfortable.

If you'e getting bored, rethink your major. are you happy with it? can you use it later? what are your stregnths and weaknesses? what makes you happy?

keep at it, it will be over realtively soon.

Keep your chin up.
The first two years are a little tedious. College goes at a bit faster pace, but you will mature quickly. high school is a lot of repeat stuff. You will notice very soon that you are expected to learn at a much faster pace. When you get use to the workload, you will be fine.

Also, once you get the basics out of the way, then you are studying the things that interest you. for me it was History, Government, Economics and Political Science. Those classes really kept my attention.

You will find your way, just make sure you take a break once in awhile, and that you look for ways to enjoy your classes. Finding a connection is the key to enjoying education.

Also, know that it gets much easier. I struggled early on, but by the end, I could write a ten page term paper in a few hours that would get a 4.0 at any university. You are building that foundation, then it will be easy.

Keep the faith, and good luck.

Yes it would be easier to sit back and procrastinate and I feel like doing just that lots of times, especially when I'm overwhelmed with all of the schoolwork. Sometimes it feels so good to just sit and relax for a few minutes, but pretty soon those minutes can turn into hours. In order to keep myself going I just think about all of the people who believe in me and encourage me( basically my whole family) and how heartbroken they would be if I fail. Also, I think about all the benefits that would come of all my hard work, both to myself and to many other people. Finally, I pray for the strength to keep going and that all my efforts are justly rewarded( I don't care how cheesy I sound).

go drive around a nice neighborhood and realize....hey....when I finish all this college work....this is the life I'll have. In less time than I was in Jr and HS.

Then go drive around a bad area of town and realize this might be a high point if you don't finish. Go through a few trailer parks as well and realize this might be home after married without college.

Reading between the lines here, it sounds like other things are taking a priority. You need to stop partying and hanging out, and actually study and get to bed early. 9 times out of 10 college failure is simply forgetting that you're at college to learn and nothing else...re-focus yourself and you will have no trouble...

I'm a senior in college this year, and I know whenever I felt like I couldn't keep going, I reminded myself that I'm doing something no one in my family has ever done. I keep picturing graduation day and what a milestone it's going to be for my whole family, not just for me.
