Depends on the context. If this is toward a living thing like humans etc then Opposite of Short is Tall. If this towards non Living things then it would be Long

Tee hee...your wife sounds like she has a short temper...

In the context of height, short is an antonyn for tall.

In the context of length, short is the opposite of long.

So either could be accurate, depending!

I hope you won't have a long argument about it!

They are both correct. It depends on what context you would want to use it. In relation to people, then, that person is tall and this person is short. In no relation to humans, then, this poetry is short and sweet or this essay is long but boring.

Tall or Stout
big or small
short or long
???????????
Go figure
stout is rarely used other than in England for a Beer for the most part and proper British English in distinguishing a person's size. Dictionary should give you definition and then you should figure, then the contests are on. ha ha

It depends on what you are referring to. If your taking about height then it would be short and tall. If you talking about length (like the length of a horiz. line) it could be referred to as either long or short. I guess it depends on if your talking about something horizantal or vertical. It could go both ways.

Long is more appropriate.
Tall has stunted or dwarfed as opposites, where as long depends on short.
